A contemporary development on the edge of Dartford, The Bridge Tranche development offers residents sensational views across The River Thames to the iconic QE11 Bridge and access to 80 acres of public open space, parks and lakes. This development was one of the major regeneration schemes for the Thames Gateway.
The design of the residential units in this Taylor Wimpey development was led by FCS Architects. The townhouses within it are situated on a small footprint and the architect utilised the elegant Mansard roof in their design to maximise the living space within the attic, adding an extra storey to the house.
Traditionally mansard roofs cost more and take longer to install than gable roofs, requiring more labour and materials. This can be prohibitive for house builders who are under pressure to increase speed of construction while also working to tight budgets.
I was very pleased with the product and service provided by Smartroof and found the process to be really straight forward and well managed from start to finish.
Roy Taylor
Production Manager, Taylor Wimpey
Taylor Wimpey approached Smartroof’s innovative technical team to design and manufacture a prefabricated Mansard roof system. Smartroof rose to the challenge bringing this complex ‘room in roof’ configuration into the 21st century, making it readily available for use in domestic properties.
Comprised of Smartroof’s thermally advanced pre-insulated panels and supported using superior strength Ketro and FJI Beams, this revolutionary system that is manufactured offsite further demonstrates the versatility of Smartroof’s product offering and their willingness to create new innovations for their customers.
The installation of the Mansard roofs was part of a £250,000 roof installation contract at Bridge Tranche, for Taylor Wimpey South East. Smartroof’s highly qualified installation team is able to install six Mansard roofs in only 12 hours, all of the Mansard roofs in the Bridge Tranche development were completed in 8 days. Using traditional roof installation methods this would have taken 8 weeks.
